The Joy of an Impromptu Hang

“Hey there! I’m over on this side of town. What’re you up to?” Asked my friend, Jackie on a very hot, muggy Friday afternoon. As it turns out, I had a completely open afternoon and evening with absolutely no plans. Until now. “Come on over!” I responded back and within a few minutes she and her doodle, Winston were here.

There’s something so fun and exciting about the last-minute, unplanned hang. Especially when it’s with a friend that you have a solid, comfortable foundation with. You see, we go way back. We met while attending LMU, we were in the same sorority, travelled abroad and lived together in college. After a hiatus of living on opposite sides of the country I feel so fortunate that we’re both in Denver, CO.

What started as a quick hello ended up being a great evening, complete with pizza from the Funky Flame, an organic wine from Leevers Locavore, lots of laughs and catching up on all the things. From the Outside Lands line up, new TV Shows, like the ‘Summer I Turned Pretty’, the news and more. There’s something so special and important about connecting with friends in person.

This evening was a great reminder to leave room and create space for the unexpected, spontaneous and impromptu moments in life.
