THOUGHTS
Over the years, I've developed an interest in psychology, philosophy, and self-improvement. Whether listening to a podcast, subscribing to a substack, or reading on my Kindle, this topic of interest expands my perspective. It has shaped my approach to living an intentional, well-balanced life. I have grown attuned to and fallen in love with seasons, rhythms, and cycles for the past few months. Whether it's the start of a new year, month, week, or even day, we can reaffirm our intentions, take incremental actions, and reset if needed to keep going.
As I look ahead to 2024, I've set intentions for my career, purpose, relationships, community, and health. An intention helps establish a direction yet allows for the space for things to unfold organically and naturally. Let's take health, for example; I want strength and stability for my mind, body, and spirit. For me, that means consistent daily, weekly, and monthly actions.
Here's a quick rundown of what I'm doing to improve my health daily:
8 hours of sleep
Journal in the AM
Eat breakfast in the, no skipping
Drink water
Move my body (This can be yoga, or on most days, means walking Scout)
Alcohol-free beverages
Some days, I don't accomplish all of these, and that's okay; I'll wake up the following day and start over. By aiming to create these seemingly small, simple lifestyle changes, I've noticed how they compound into positive changes over time. And now, they're becoming habits I can build upon.
There was a time in my life when I tried, forced, and failed to achieve these goals. But now, it is easier. I wonder if it's age, this life phase, or reframing. I will open up and share something personal that has helped; the last line I've written in my journal for the past few months is, "I love you. I believe in you. Keep going." So, if you want to make lifestyle changes to feel your best and make this next year the best yet, I believe in you. Keep going.

Inspired: Allana O’Neil is a lifestyle photographer and creative based in Maui, Hawaii. I admire her work, resonate with her writings, and have learned much from her resources.
